Director of Market Development Europe

Vicki Lockhart joined the IWBI team in 2017, and from a base in London, is responsible for driving the international growth, market engagement and strategic development of the WELL Building Standard across Europe. This includes supporting leading investors, developers, FM and HR professionals, and industry partners with an interest in healthy buildings in their early explorations of WELL, in addition to sharing insights on market engagement and project experiences through industry events and workshops. She also supports supply chain market transformation efforts with manufacturers and service providers, collaborating around thought leadership and advocacy, and increasing visibility and availability of solutions.

Vicki brings to IWBI a technical background in sustainability consulting, having worked over seven years with global engineering firm Arup in their Berlin and London offices to develop and deliver new health and well-being consultancy services across their global operations. Previously, she worked with a leading housing association, gaining insights to the world of affordable housing and delivery of supported living and care models into London communities.

With first-hand experience working with LEED®, BREEAM and WELL in European and international contexts, she is passionate about complementing sustainable green building practices with medical insights and new technologies to enhance human experience and well-being in a ‘people + planet’ approach. Among the first cohort of WELL APs, she now also provides education and support to industry as a WELL Faculty member.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Sheffield, with an extended dissertation study into the history of the UK social housing sector alongside the psychological and sociological constructs of ‘home’. Today, she nurtures strong personal interests in the Nourishment and Mind concepts through cooking, gardening, yoga, craft and visual arts. She also volunteers as part of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and is currently part of the UK Young Leaders Committee, and co-chair of the UK Sustainability Council.
