Lars Ostenfeld Riemann is the Executive Director for Buildings in Ramboll. In this function Lars provides Strategic Leadership of Ramboll’s business within the Buildings Market. This includes overall strategic leadership, revenue and P&L growth, driving of spearhead sectors, communication and positioning strategy, international business development, knowledge sharing, management of strategic projects, representing Ramboll at high level client meetings and conferences etc.

The work is driven by the global challenges that define the future need of skills. Ramboll has played a key role in decarbonising Denmark both in terms of transforming the energy sector and by minimising the use of energy in the Danish building stock. Lars is drawing on his 20 years of design experience as well as his business skills when developing and evaluating the feasibility of solutions. This has resulted in strategies for transforming cities into carbon free communities without burdening public budgets.

Key roles:

  • Setting up and leading the internal Ramboll Sustainability Network. In this role Lars has ensured knowledge sharing, collaboration and skills development across the company within sustainability. The Network develops new ideas, new concepts and new solutions which are subsequently implemented in projects.
  • Member of Ramboll’s Liveable City Board and initiator of Ramboll’s city approach. The Board is providing overall direction for Ramboll’s Liveable City Lab and through its debates it helps develop new implementable tools and solutions.
  • Chicago Lakeside Development: Development of strategies for energy, water, waste and sustainability. This major brown field development south of Chicago has the ambition of being the most sustainable neighbourhood in the US. It will bring a whole new lifestyle to the US and it will be a role model for future developments.

Lars has delivered several talks at international conferences focusing on sustainability, urban development, liveability, energy efficiency etc.
